2024 Chevy Silverado HD Trucks Get Fresh Mugs, Flashier Interiors

New Transmission, Mightier Diesel

redesigning the inside and outside of the Chevy's heavy-duty pickups might help them look new, but their gas-fed 6.6-liter V8 Standard is what ultimately allows these trucks to keep up with competitors that are designed for work duty. The same 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque from its predecessor contributes to this increased powertrain.

For 2024, the gas-burning Silverado HD has a higher Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR), which rises from 24,000 to 26,000 pounds. Additionally, it now pairs with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission instead of a six-speed automatic. Chevy says that this new gearbox will help the engine make better use of its peak power.

Fresh Face, Flashier Interior

The 2024 Silverados have a new look, from their grilles to the top-of-the range High Country models. Along with the newly designed grille and C-shaped LED lighting elements, higher trim levels feature dual-projector headlights with animated sequences for when the driver approaches or walks away from the truck.

Chevy offers the '24 Silverado HD with new wheel options, including chrome 20-inch wheels for the LTZ, polished 18-inchers, and all-terrain tires for the dual-rear-axle 3500HD. Additionally, a set of 20-inch offroad tires can now be ordered with certain packages. The Midnight Edition--an appearance package with blacked out finishes--is also available on the High Country model.

The Silverado's interior has been updated with a new dashboard design and prominent digital displays. This layout and tech features are standard on the LT model and up, but not offered on the Work Truck or Custom trim levels. The update includes a configurable 12.3-inch gauge cluster and 13.4-inch touchscreen that runs Google software and apps.. There is also a revised center console with wireless charger and more space for cupholders

The fanciest Silverado models have leather-wrapped surfaces and wood accents. Exclusively on the High Country, there's a new Nightshift Blue interior option with all the top-notch materials.

The Chevy Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD for 2024 will be available to purchase in the first half of 2023. No specific pricing has been announced by the company yet, but they say more information will be shared closer to the on-sale date. Additionally, it was revealed that there will also be an off-road-ready ZR2 model offered for the first time ever; however, it won't launch until after the regular trucks have already hit dealerships.
